$1.4 million grant to increase STEM students, teachers
Illinois State University received a grant of $1.4 million to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups seeking a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) degree and a secondary teaching credential.
Historian to speak on Lincoln October 8
Historian John David Smith, author of Soldiering for Freedom, will talk about Abraham Lincoln's goals for and relations with African American recruits into the Union army during the Civil War at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 8, in the Prairie Room of the Bone Student Center.
Music for All sensory-friendly concert October 10
The Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra will present a free sensory-friendly concert for children and adults with cognitive, physical and behavioral exceptionalities, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 10, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
Ferguson civil rights activist to deliver Hibberts R. Roberts Lecture October 15
Prominent activist, author, and theologian Rev. Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou will present “A New Civil Rights Movement? Ferguson, Black Lives Matter, and the Future of Nonviolence” at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 15, in Capen Auditorium.
Homecoming 2015 celebration week of October 19
Illinois State University will be celebrating Homecoming from October 19 to October 25. Events range from a carnival and basketball exhibition to tailgating for the 2 p.m. Redbird football kickoff Saturday, October 24, in Hancock Stadium.
